Siren's Fury (The Storm Siren Trilogy), by Mary Weber

“I thrust my hand toward the sky as my voice begs the Elemental inside me to waken and rise. But it’s no use. The curse I’ve spent my entire life abhorring—the thing I trained so hard to control—no longer exists.”

Nym risked her life to save Faelen, her homeland, from a losing war, only to discover that the shapeshifter Draewulf has stolen everything she holds dear. But when the repulsive monster robs Nym of her storm-summoning abilities as well, the beautiful Elemental realizes her war is only just beginning.

Now powerless to control the elements that once emboldened her, Nym stows away on an airship traveling to the metallic kingdom of Bron. She must stop Draewulf. But the horrors he’s brought to life and the secrets of Bron are more than Nym bargained for. Then the disturbing Lord Myles tempts her with new powers that could destroy the monster, and Nym must decide whether she can compromise in the name of good even if it costs her very soul.

As she navigates the stark industrial cityscape of Bron, Nym is faced with an impossible choice: change the future with one slice of a blade . . . or sacrifice the entire kingdom for the one thing her heart just can’t let go.

A strong follow up to a great series
By Michelle@Book Briefs
Siren’s Fury is the second book in the young adult fantasy trilogy series by the same name. I absolutely LOVED the first book, Storm Siren. It was one of my favorite books of 2014. So I was super excited for Siren’s Fury to come out. Especially since Storm Siren ended on one um-dinger of a cliff hanger. I am starting to think that Mary Weber loves torturing us because Siren’s Fury both started out and ended with something that just about stopped my heart. I absolutely loved the ending though. I may or may not have actually hugged the book when I was done. #IsThatWeird?

Siren’s Fury is not as heavy on the romance as the first one was. Rather, it is focused on the mounting war aspects and building up the history of the various nations involved. Mary Weber is a world building genius in my opinion. Her writing is not overt, but the magic is in the way that she subtly weaves in so many details, that this wildly different world felt so real to me that I swear it was like I was learning about these nations in a history class. Even their own histories felt rich, and complex and so real. I will say that you do need to read these books carefully, and preferably back to back or at least close together, because the details and names are all a lot to grasp and catalog. It took me a little bit of time to re-gain my bearings in the world, but once I did, I was completely absorbed in Siren’s Fury.

And can we just talk for a second about those covers? I just want to pet them over and over again. They are so pretty. And this one fits in so perfectly with the new power that is at play in the book. Speaking of the new power, there are oh-so-many things that I want to say in this review, that I just can’t because the whole plot of this book is wrapped around one huge spoiler. And I don’t want to do anything to ruin it. But I will say that Mary Weber flat out ripped the heart out of my chest in the first couple of chapters. I almost put the book down, I was so distraught. But if you are like me, KEEP READING. Trust me on that. This book is a little light on the romance, so be warned in that aspect, but I doubt you will notice all that much, because there is so much going on elsewhere with the plot.

Siren’s Fury is an excellent addition to the Storm Siren world. History buffs will really get into this book. And yes, I know that it is not history of our countries and our world, but I swear I felt like I was back in some of my history seminars in college. I absolutely loved it. History and fantasy seamlessly woven into one kick ass young adult novel. I loved Siren’s Fury and I cannot wait to get my hands on the final book in the trilogy. (is it too late to turn this into a longer series Mary?? Please, I will give you a cookie…)

Siren's Fury an excellent and exciting sequel!

Siren's Fury
The Storm Siren Trilogy 2
By Mary Weber

I have to admit I've been waiting eagerly for this book since I read Storm Siren. The wait was worth it! I devoured the book in an afternoon.

Siren's Fury picks up where Storm Siren left us. The battle at the Keep has ended Draewulf's reign. Eogan has assumed his position as King Ezeoha of Bron. The Hidden Lands are finally safe from Draewulf, Lady Isobel, and the Dark Army.

Or are they? Draewulf has revealed himself to Nym, having taken Eogan's body and his identity as his own. Has the power that they just defeated retained his hold on the kingdom of Bron?

Draewulf is not easily defeated and he has been planning for years and in one awful moment Nym is about to discover just how much she has to lose. And in the losing can Nym discover who she truly is or will she succumb to the temptations that are offered to her. Temptations that could turn her into what she most hates.

But who will Nym trust in a world that has once again betrayed her? Can she trust Princess Rasha to help her or will Rasha put Cashlin interests ahead of Nym's concerns and needs? And when Myles presents her with an option will she trust the man who betrayed her before? And can she stop Eogan/Draewulf or will her feelings for Eogan prevent her from stopping him?

Siren's Fury is as exciting as Storm Siren. If it has been awhile since you read Storm Siren take the time to read it again before diving between the covers of Siren's Fury, it will be worth it and enhance your reading experience. This is a worthy sequel as we see Nym struggle through the pain and loss she is experiencing while trying to rediscover who she is .

Well, I can now eagerly anticipate book 3! And believe me when you reach the final line you will be too!

I was provided a digital copy of this book by the publisher through the BookLook blogger program in exchange for my honest review.

LOVE!
By Amber @ The Book Bratz
The ending to Storm Siren was painful, Mary took your heart stomped on it and then ripped it into a million pieces. I will admit, because of that ending I was terrified to dive into Siren's Fury, was it going to break my heart? Was there still a possibility of saving Eogan? Mary Weber sucked me back into the world of Storm Siren, leaving me dying to know what was going to happen next.

Siren's Fury picks up right before Storm Siren ends, giving the readers a chance to relive the news of Eogan's death. It was much more painful the second time around. I can summarize the whole book for you and you are going to be like "What? That makes no sense." So I am doing this review a little differently.

This book includes:
A horrible villain
A heroine that looses a bit of her sanity'
Dark magic
Rich world building
Plot twist after plot twist
Impending war, death, and other horrible things
Growing to actually like Myles (I know, I know *shivers*)
Heart breaking decisions

I loved Nym even more in Siren's Fury, she wasn't the perfect cookie cutter heroine that you typically see in YA novels. She is determined and a bit desperate causing her to make a ton of stupid mistakes. But she learned from her mistakes through out the story, in the end her best strengths was her compassion and love for the people she cared about. It is ultimately what saves her life. It made her seem all the ore human to me.

We learn alot more about Rasha and Myles in this book. I adore Rasha, in all honesty I wouldn't even mind if Mary wrote a spin off all about her. I loved getting to see her and Nym's friendship flourish through out the entirety of this book. Myles is still the same, disgusting creep he was in Storm Siren, only this time around he wants to ''help" Nym save Eogan and Faelon. Myles is simply poweer hungry and the thought of a payout in the end is the only thing that actually keeps him going.

Siren's Fury started off slow and I began to loose interest. At about the half way mark things began to pickup and I didn't want to put it down. The world building is heavy, but necessary for the reader to know in order to understand what is happening. Mary is able to build Nym's world with out making the reader bored and want to put the book down.

Overall, I LOVED Siren's Fury, and now eagerly awaiting news on book three!
