Simple and Elegant.

This book is elegant. The most complicated math it uses is multiplication, but they model war decently enough to study its main factors. You still need some math tolerance to read it, though, because it relies a lot in math proofs (even if simple, it can be tiring).

Some interesting insights on strategy and on conflict resolution.

This is an amazing book! I'll never look at war the same way again. The author does a very good job at explaining why certain countries may go to war; even using mathematical equations to prove it.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley, known as Triple H, is the only man to have been a Grand Slam Champion and to have won King of the Ring and the Royal Rumble. He has been at the top of the game since making his WWE debut in the spring of 1995 and is currently at the top of the Raw roster. He lives in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Excellant book for any wrestling fan

I love this book. The pictures themselves are worth the money and his routine gives a person something to work at. Everyone is different but his concept is good. The personal chapters in this book are really good. It shows that not all is what it seems. This man has had a long hard battle and his work ethic is something most people could learn something from. I highly recomend it to anyone interested in wrestling, or looking for some inspiration.

Worth Every Penny!

This is a very well written book! Far better written than I could have ever imagined. Triple H lays things out in simple and easy to understand terms and sandwiches great weight training advice in-between a wonderful behind the scenes look at the wrestling business.

If you are someone just starting out in the gym or if you are someone like me who needed something to get my mind refocused on my priorities in the gym, BUY THIS BOOK!

It's all about The Game

I'd be giving this three and a half stars, but Amazon doesn't do the half-star thing. So I rounded up to express my admiration for this superstar. He pretty much makes RAW what it is these days--- At least to me. Where HHH is concerned I am the furthest thing from a "hater" as a person can get. This is my absolute favorite pro wrestler, so imagine how excited I was to learn he put out, not only an autobiography, but a fitness manual as well. Wow! I've been going to the gym, trying my best to emulate the Game and his large, athletic physique. Getting advice from the man himself, to me, was a great gift. Imagine my disappointment after reading how little this man has to say about himself and fitness.

You can tell that The Game sat in a room with a writer holding a tape recorder, and did not bother to take the time to go into any great detail about the business he works in. This is a combined autobiography AND training "manual" that is 196 pages, large text and double spaced, plus about 30 extra pages that explain some of the exercises he mentions.

Don't expect to hear any anecdotes about his childhood, his family life or backstage antics in the wrestling world. While he has a chapter devoted to his relationship with Stephanie McMahon, again expect little personal detail. He's telling us what he'd tell any reporter with a mic in his face. This is not a book; it is an essay in book's clothing. But it has its merits.

You will get to know the man a littler better and it does show you a side of Triple H (Paul Levesque) you haven't seen, which is really my way of saying he's not a complete jerk. He seems like a down to earth, somewhat shy and rather nice guy in his own way. I don't think you can win the hand of Vinnie Mac's little girl by being an A-Hole.

His chapter about his horrible Quadricep injury that took him away from us, and had me crying for a whole year was interesting. He discusses his rehab, and how he is the first person to come back from an injury of that caliber.

His body building advice is very informal, but informative. It's designed for a man who punishes his body constantly, so there are hard days and light days. He discusses how he is able to maintain good nutrition while spending the bulk of his life on the road. Again, don't expect great details. I think this book was put out with people who already work out in mind, so he'll tell you what to do, but not how. That's not his job. The message of the Game's book is that Bodybuilding taught him to set goals and work slowly but surely to attain them, as we should.

If you're looking for an informal training manual, a small glimpse into this guy's life, and an even smaller glimpse into the world of pro-wrestling then buy the book. If you're expecting anything anywhere near Mick Foley's "Have a Nice Day!: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks" save your money. Foley has a lot more to say about the pro wrestling business and himself than the Game. Still, a pretty good read. You can finish the autobiography in about 4 hours--- the training manual is meant to last longer, as body-building is a process that *should* take you the rest of your life, and I think his advise is sound. Look at him--- how can it not be?

About the Author
In 1989, brothers Bert and John Jacobs designed their first T-shirts. They began selling their designs in the streets of Boston and out of an old van at colleges and street fairs. Today, the company offers more than 900 different items in 14 categories, and products are sold in approximately 4,500 retail stores in the U.S., and in 30 countries worldwide.

Life Is Good, and This Book Will Prove It

The Founders of clothing company Life is Good share their personal and business story with charm and honesty in this inspiring book. They organize the story into 10 Superpower chapters;
* Openness
* Courage
* Simplicity
* Humor
* Gratitude
* Fun
* Compassion
* Creativity
* Authenticity
* Love

All these qualities shine through in the story, along with the narrative of a multi-million dollar business. If you're willing to accept that being fun and loving will bring you this kind of financial success if teamed with hard work, you're set. But you shouldn't expect lots of business tips or a blueprint for business success. A paragraph or two is all that separate selling T shirts on the street and their first $262,000 year, and a few pages is all it takes to get to their first million dollar year.

In addition to a thoughtful and inspiring story, you get plenty of cheery artwork, playlists for each Superpower, and action steps. The action steps are things like going outdoors, unplugging from electronic media a couple of hours before you go to bed, and expressing love in daily life. Not world-shattering, in other words, but happy things to do. And maybe we forget about them too often.

So begin with realistic expectations, get the book in hard cover so you can fully appreciate the artwork, take it outside, and read it. You'll be energized and encouraged.

Optimism for Everyone

Wow. I couldn't put it down. Sure I'm a self-avowed LIG lover from the get go, but this book was just fun to read. AND very inspirational. You got a real sense of who these two guys are who created a movement and are putting Optimism on the map in a bigger way every single day.

No they aren't perfect, but it's nice to know that imperfect people can do great things...just like EVERYONE can.

If you are looking for optimism and inspiration and a fun read, LIFE IS GOOD THE BOOK is the one you want!

Loved It! 10 Simple Ideas, One Powerful Result Spreading Optimism Far And Wide - Great Book and Heartwarming Tribute To Their Mo

Life is good indeed.

There are so many books that attempt to be inspirational and optimistic, many do a good job, few do a great job, especially those that might appear to be built on quotes, memes and platitudes. This book is not that. Don't get me wrong, there are a few of those things in there, but they make the book better, not expected.

The 10 Superpowers (don't be put off, stick it out) are:
1. Openness
2. Courage
3. Simplicity
4. Humor
5. Gratitude
6. Fun
7. Compassion
8. Creativity
9. Authenticity
10. Love

Each of the 10 superpowers are back up with distillations of research and attribution. Each idea also has a number of stories from the brother's days on the road from extremely humble beginnings to a very successful business and life.

But that isn't the real story. The real story is the story of Joan, the brother's mother, family matriarch, creative stimulus and eternal optimist. The book takes you though the now pretty well known story of how the company formed but it goes deeper and talks about the family secrets, hardships, failures, and pain. It speaks to the lessons Joan taught them and the lessons that they learned more by observation or accident. The love for their mother and their mother for them is palpable throughout the book. Their mother's dedication to raising optimistic children is legendary.

One of the things I really enjoyed about the book with the level of independence that all of the children developed through not only their parent's hands off parenting style but their own natural curiosity and willingness to explore. Their connection back to nature and the learning they share from their observations and experience make the book even more important at a time where kids need to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the nature that surrounds them. The stories they tell of their experiences will make you hopeful and give you some great stepping off points for reconnecting your own children and yourself with one of the most powerful creative forces we have.

I also very much enjoyed the three idea business applications of the superpowers at the end of each chapter. Most chapters also have 10 songs listed that the authors like that tie into the idea, I found a lot of classics but some new music as well. It is a very fun aside.

If you are optimistic or could use a little shot of optimism, this is the book for you. I've added this book to my list of books I'll give all my employees and as gifts to people I care about and people who need a boost. I hope you'll get it and read it and love it as much as I have.

Brad Edgeworth, CCIE No. 31574 (R/S & SP), Cisco Systems Engineer and Technical Leader, and author of IP Routing on Cisco IOS, IOS XE, and IOS XR. A Distinguished Speaker at Cisco Live, he has architected networks for multiple Fortune® 500 companies. He has nearly 20 years of IT experience, specializing in routing for enterprise and service provider environments.

Jean-Marc Barozet is a Principal Engineer with the Intelligent WAN (IWAN) product management team, helping to architect and lead the Cisco SD-WAN solution. He has more than 25 years of enterprise and service provider networking experience, and has been with Cisco for more than 19 years.

David Prall, CCIE No. 6508 (R/S, SP, and Security), is a Communications Architect on the Enterprise Networks Technical Strategy Team for Cisco. He previously held system engineering positions supporting US federal agencies. Prall’s primary focus is complex routing and switching, including design, deployment, and troubleshooting of large-scale networks.

Anthony Lockhart, Technical Marketing Engineer at Cisco, has 15 years of experience with Cisco technologies, network infrastructure, architecture, and the design and implementation of datacenters and call centers. As POC Engineer at HCL America, he provided design and pre-sales engineering for Cisco WAAS products.

Nir Ben-Dvora, Senior Technical Leader at Cisco, technically leads architecture for the Application Visibility and Control (AVC) solution for Cisco, collaborating with teams worldwide. He has 17 years of Cisco management and architecture experience.

Another gem from Cisco Press

The much anticipated Cisco Press IWAN book is here. This is another gem from author Brad Edgeworth First there was the well written Cisco Press IP Routing on Cisco IOS XE and IOS XR and now this one. If you are planning to deploy DMVPN, PfR and WAAS this is a must have.
Would highly recommend to network engineers and architects who are responsible for deploying and supporting IWAN solutions. Also useful is the VIRL lab files for following along which is available for download. Thank you Brad and team/Cisco Press.

SD-WAN for simplified networking iWAN

Nice representation of SD-WAN with good examples to deploy in Greenfield and Brownfield deployments. Would be nice to see a chapter on UX being focus of deployments so it makes it easier for deployments. Very good work Jean-Marc, David Prall. Would be nice to see Data Center Deployments.

Bob Eggleton is a successful science fiction, fantasy, horror, and landscaping artist with over twenty years of experience. Great art by Bob Eggleton

The main goal of this book is as a showcase for the art of Bob Eggleton. In this respect the book works, as it has many excellent illustrations of sea monsters, everything from the Midgard Serpent, to the Daedalus serpent, and the Loch Ness Monster. The illustrations are beautiful, if perhaps a bit "exaggerated" ie. the head of the Loch Ness Monster being larger than the entire body of St. Colomba.
The text of the book is a bit thin, but does provide an adequate framework for Suckling's drawings. A little over 100 pages hardly scratches the surface of such a broad topic as sea monsters. Topics briefly discussed are the following: Mythology, Sea Serpents, Real Sea Monsters, and Lake Monsters. If one is looking for a wealth of information on sea monsters they would be better served to look up a copy of Bernard Heuvelmans' In the Wake of the Sea Serpents.
Overall, the goal of presenting Bob Eggleton's artwork of sea monsters is achieved satisfactorily in this book. The text is a bit lacking, but it was only intended as a supplement to the artwork.

great art, weak text

As a showcase for Bob Eggleton's fantastic (and by this I mean superb as well as fanciful) artwork of sea serpents, this book is a feast for the eyes. Unfortunately, as a serious study of these creatures it comes up short, sprinting through all manner of mythical and real-life sightings of serpents which often does not do them justice (the section on the Lake Champlain serpent, for example, is only about 200 words and doesn't even mention the Mansi photograph). The fact that the artwork bears little resemblance to reported sightings of many of these creatures doesn't help matters any. This may be of interest for those who appreciate good fantasy art and/or have a casual interest in serpents and their mythology, but for the serious student of cryptozoology, there are many other, better books around.

Sea Monsters for All Ages

Knowing I'm a sea monster buff, my girlfriend bought this for me during a date at the aquarium (along with a shark tooth). I must say, I'm not disappointed at all with this book. Totalling in at only about a hundred pages or so, it provides a great introduction to various legends, sightings and facts about monsters of the deep, whether real or mythological. It would certainly be a great book to buy for children interested in such things. But where it REALLY shines forth is in Bob Eggleton's lush paintings of the various sea monsters described herein.

The book opens with an introduction to sea monsters, and why such stories continue to fascinate us even today (and sometimes miles from any large body of water at all). The first section shows off some compelling portraits of various sea monsters from mythology - the Norse Kraken, the Biblical Leviathon, the Aztec Quetzalcoatal, the Greek Hydra, and even mermaids. All of them are brought to life in full color glory by Eggleton's brilliant artwork. Theres an entire chapter dedicated to sea serpents, like the Gloucester serpent and Morgawr, and another on lake monsters like Nessie, Champ, Ogopogo, Nahuelito and Caddy. Cryptozoologists might find these chapters a bit basic, but the artwork alone is magnificent enough to justify buying it. The book also includes other creatures of the deep, like merhorses, giant squid and living dinosaurs. Finally, it closes with an epilogue mentioning sea creatures in movies, and gives Eggleton a chance to re-imagine such classics as Gorgo and the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms!

Overall, this is a gorgeous book. It is especially suited for children, or as a coffee table book, but the artwork is truly amazing. It definately would be at home on the shelf of anyone who appreciates Fantasy artwork. The selling point for me, of course, was the fact that its an entire book on sea monsters. Its not particularly academic, but its a fun read nonetheless. If you want more detailed cryptozoology, you'll have to look elsewhere I fear (though the book does have a nice list of recommended reading, including Ellis' "Monsters of the Sea" and Heuvalman's "In the Wake of Sea Serpents"). But if your looking for a nice little book of sea monsters, this is your baby.
