Absorbed takes you into the mind of Lucas Wolfe in the down time in Devoured, after Sienna is pushed away and he writes Ten Days in order to win her back.

He knew he didn't have any right to claim her, he knew his secrets weren't going to allow him to keep her. But Lucas could not resist the woman that has been under his skin, one that worked her way much earlier than he ever realized. But now that he's had a taste - and his ex, Sam has reminded him of why he isn't worthy, he does what every broken bad-boy does. He pushes and he breaks her heart.

But Lucas soon discovers that his heart is just as broken as hers. Letting the music say the apology he is so desperate for her to hear, Lucas does what he does best. He throws his feelings into his music and hopes that it's enough to win her back.

This originally was posted in segments on Emily Snow's website and although I read the first few postings I admit I sort of let this fall to the back burner. When Consumed was rumored to have been released and then was nowhere to be found I decided against reading it to avoid torturing myself with waiting for the next in this series to be released.

Now that I have finally picked this series back up, I was amazed at how much of this story stayed with me. Hundreds of stories, love affairs and book boyfriends have been experienced since I read the last word of Devoured and I was able to jump right back into this series without missing a single beat. Emily's books have always been among my favorites, she was one of the first indie authors that I came across when I picked up reading again and I was pleased that I was easily able to fall right back in love with her work.

So I liked the stories and it was a good tease of Devoured the Series. I'm so past having to buy Absorbed based on the fact that the final books release date has been pushed back no fewer than four times. I feel like for those of us that preordered the fourth book that Absorbed should have been a gift.
I'm not a writer just an avid reader and I can only imagine writing so many books in a year but the release date push backs are tiresome. That said I rather read a worthy book than one produced on a time line. Six of one half a dozen of the other.
I could only find three stars in my heart. I do and will recommend the novella but only to those new to the Devoured series.

easy to prepare

Pegan diet is a unique blend of two powerful diet which I find truly interesting. The recipes included on this book are refreshing, with accessible ingredients (which you can get anywhere even from Walmart), easy to prepare, and very healthy. I love the twists on each menu and how the ingredients come together to pull off an exciting, delicious meals. I also love how nuts and other fruits were added to make a flavorful dish like cashews, pomegranate and more. The smoothies and other desserts seem divine! If you're a lover of asparagus like me, you'll definitely love the sauteed asparagus dish here. If you wanted to keep an exciting meal at home, at the same time, ensuring the quality and health value of each food you serve in your table, I highly recommend this book. I definitely want to share this with my family and friends.

Not Like Other Big Data Books

It seems like every blogger and every journalist, even David Brooks from the NY Times, is writing about the Big Data Revolution. I have personally been getting very tired of the same old tired story line they are writing about, "Big Data is the savior of the world". I have also been recently getting tired of the naysayers who are writing articles or books on the other side calling Big Data just another fad. Of course, as is with most of life and our world, the truth lies somewhere in the middle, which is where I found this book to land. Very practical advice for beginners to the Big Data world with explanations of what key terms mean. But also some truly interesting and visionary guidance on where you should be thinking about going with Big Data for your own company. The thing that I enjoyed the most about the book was the examples they gave of real world companies or organizations that are using Big Data principles to effect real change in the way they approach their market. The example of the College in Arizona was fascinating to me and it seems like there was one example after another that really drove things home for me. I wish more books took this story telling approach when it came to this topic.

I highly reccomend this book to both novices and also to those that have a fair amount of experience in the space. The authors do a great job of balancing the book to be useful and informative for both sets of users.

In The Immaterial,French social philosopher André Gorz (1923–2007) argues, in his finely-tuned and polemical style, that the economic boom that accelerated in the 1990s and crashed so spectacularly in 2008 was based largely on an immaterial consumption of symbols and ideas, as capitalism tried to overcome the crisis of the formally industrial regime by throwing itself into a new, so-called knowledge economy.

This economy would be based on zero-cost exchange and pooled resources, and knowledge would be treated as humanity’s common property. Currently, in order to exploit knowledge and turn it into capital, the capitalist enterprise privatizes specialized knowledge and claims ownership through private licenses and copyright. But as Gorz shows, the traditional foundations of such capitalist economics have begun to crumble because of the immaterial nature of this new form of product, which makes it almost impossible to measure in monetary terms. The knowledge economy, Gorz declares, is the crisis of capitalism.

About the Author

André Gorz (1923–2007), also known by his pen name Michel Bosquet, was an Austrian-French social philosopher. He was the editor of Les Temps modernes and cofounded Le Nouvel Observateur, a leftist weekly.His other books include Socialism and Revolution, Farewell to the Working Class,and Ecologica, the last also published by Seagull Books.  Chris Turner is a writer and translator who lives in Birmingham, England.

In his final text, Gorz extensively quotes from other writers (perhaps half the text). He cogently argues that the emperor of capitalism in the 21st century has no clothes, but offers no engineerable alternatives. The final third of the book is particularly interesting. Here, he discusses the potential impact of information technology in the coming decades. As befits such forward looking discussion, the ending tone is unresolved. Although no conclusions are made, his outlook is certainly not optimistic.

Required Retirement Reading

I am a business owner who has heard many different strategies about preparing for my retirement. Unfortunately, what I most feel about all of the advice I have been given is confusion. After reading Mark Singer's book, I am much clearer about what I need to do. Mark was able to put in proper perspective how to think about retirement in terms I could understand. Mark was able to communicate, through his many stories, the powerful new strategies that so many of the other advisors have been unable to get across to me. This is an easy to read book, and for those truly interested in getting their retirement on track, it is a must read.

What a timely book!

I'm not a big fan of financial books...especially ones that are dry and use difficult to follow concepts. That's why I LOVE Mark Singer's THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF RETIREMENT.

With the lingering effects of the recession, this book is a must-read reference book for everyday Americans like me who should spend a lot more time on long range planning.

A terrific, easy to understand reference...pick it up!

Mark Singer has written a book that's much needed today -- when many stats indicate that only 5% of all retirees have enough to GET them through retirement. This book is a great blend of information, "how to", and case studies (vignettes from actual clients of his) to give anyone who's confused (or has procrastinated) the right start to ensuring a secure retirement. I heartily endorse this book.

For over twenty years Emmet Sweeney has researched the questions raised by Velikovsky's efforts to reconstruct ancient history as it is currently taught. He holds a Masters Degree in Early Modern History from the University of Ulster and is currently a lecturer at West University, Timisoara, Romania.

which chronolgy fits the facts?

One of the odd things about archaeology and stratigraphy is that the archaeologists don't believe their eyes or the work they've done in the ground. True, these archaeologists are not experts on Aeolian layers and other ways to determine how much time has passed so they seem to feel poetic license need not be eschewed. They'd rather continue a false chronology then actually use scientific ethics/detachment to examine the evidence they find. Is this the reason why no archaeologist will allow a geologist trained in Aeolian layers any where near a site? In a manner of speaking, yes. For the problem is archaeologists and ancient historians have an emotional attachment to the 'long' chronology. Sadly, this is not new. Isaac Newton was reviled and vilified for showing a much shortened chronology using his knowledge of physics. This was in the 1600's (you might think the rocket scientists would show some support for Newton since they consider his cosmology god-like). So, it comes down to two separate ways in determining what the chronology of the ancient world actually looked like: 1) forensic science and 2) using the ancient authors as a guide. Charles Ginenthal has shown the chorology to be much shorter through forensic science. Emmet Sweeney in this book, 'Gods, Heroes and Tyrants: Greek Chronology in Chaos,' uses the ancient writers. Of course, it must be stressed that one cannot take everything ancient writers wrote as verbatim. This is where the trick and the joy of the research lie. Understanding when these ancient writers have erred a little or a lot or entirely is a core problem and certainly points toward the conclusion. Sweeney's arguments are incredibly strong and logical. He not only backs up his claims but debunks the claims of those who support the orthodox belief. His arguments pinpoint problems with depth and his analysis of them is succinct and relatively brief. This gives one time to reflect and keep from being bored. For those who have a difficult time with integrity or scientific ethics this book is probably not for you. Yet, if you can look at an argument with detachment - sans an emotional connection - than you should enjoy the book even if you don't necessarily agree the Sweeney's conclusions.

Fascinating Stuff

This is the second book that I've read in the series, after the Pyramid Age, and I think it is the better of the two. By keeping the subject to just Greece, Sweeney does not overwhelm the reader with too much scattered information. Having some academic background in both archaeology and ancient history, I think I'm qualified to say that Emmet Sweeney's revised chronology of Greece is correct. It makes perfect sense that the Trojan War and the Mythological Age were only a few generations removed from what we know as classical Greece, instead of the half-millennium Dark Age that traditional chronology imposes. The vast amount of literary and archaeological evidence presented in this book makes this fairly obvious. Sweeney writes that if the Greek data stood on its own two feet, instead of being tied to Egyptian chronology, then the history of Greece would be a lot shorter and a lot simpler. Indeed. Let's hope that other writers follow up and continue to challenge the bogus ancient history that is being taught in schools and repeated on all those "smart" shows on Discovery and the History Channel.

While reading this book I was thinking that much of the traditional chronology rests on the incorrect dating of the Geometric and Mycenaean pottery. If this can be comprehensively debunked, perhaps more academics will turn away from the Dark Age and help spread the truth.
